Inaugural Pembina Trails School Division Pow Wow on May 27
Pembina Trails School Division was proud to host its inaugural Pow Wow on May 27 at Fort Richmond Collegiate.
The Pow Wow brought together members of the south Winnipeg community, particularly from Fort Richmond Collegiate, Arthur A. Leach School, and École Bonnycastle School, to celebrate Indigenous culture. Specifically, the Pow Wow was in support of members of the Makoon Transition Inc community, an Indigenous-led organization dedicated to walking alongside families as they navigate the child welfare system by providing culturally grounded transitional housing and family centered supports.
The event was filled with drumming, dancing and beautiful regalia, while the community also got to connect over a pre-Pow Wow feast.
Thank you to The Winnipeg Foundation for supporting the event, to the administrative teams at Fort Richmond Collegiate, Arthur A. Leach School, and École Bonnycastle School for their leadership, and to all those who attended and honoured this wonderful community.
