High school dodgeball taking off at Pembina Trails Collegiate

Dodgeball has long been a gym class favourite. But members of Pembina Trails Collegiate (PTC) have been taking the sport to the next level this spring.

The school has been piloting the High School Dodgeball League, a first-of-its-kind initiative in Manitoba designed to spark interest in inter-school competition in the sport.

The pilot featured five teams: two from PTC, two from Fort Richmond Collegiate, and one team from the Winnipeg Minor Dodgeball League to help fill out the competition. The teams battled it out in an invitational round robin tournament spread across three nights this spring, culminating on May 5 with playoff competition and crowning Fort Richmond Collegiate as the champions of the pilot league.

This is just the beginning for the High School Dodgeball League, as organizers plan to continue growing the competition to more schools in the coming years.
