French Immersion Program Information
French Immersion is one of the four official school programs recognized in the province of Manitoba. Its purpose is to offer you the choice of having your children learn in both French and English.
Choosing French Immersion allows students to learn the language through active and practical use in the classroom setting. Learning French will contribute to their future success in a world marked by rapid social, economic and intellectual change, information technology and a global market.
In the French Immersion program, most courses are taught in French. The exception is the English Language Arts class which accounts for about a quarter of the time. The program starts in kindergarten and continues to grade 12. Parents are not required to speak French.
