Curriculum

At Pembina Trails, we are committed to ensuring that students are personally and intellectually engaged in learning opportunities. Westgrove School follows the Manitoba Education and Training curriculum guidelines in all curricular areas.

We help students develop, practice and refine the skills they need to be successful in school, but our commitment also goes beyond that. More importantly, we help them to become productive citizens entering the world of post-secondary education and work.

The term “21st Century Learning” is widely used when speaking of preparing students for their future. The learning outcomes of public education are meant to ensure students are ready to meet the demands of modern society once they leave our halls.

To meet the goals of 21st Century Learning, we ensure our students learn the following skills and abilities during their time at Pembina Trails:

  • creativity and innovation
  • critical thinking and problem solving
  • agility, adaptability and capacity for life-long learning
  • teamwork and collaboration in real-life and virtual teams
  • initiative, self-direction and entrepreneurialism
  • effective oral and written communication
  • proficiency in literacy and numeracy
  • multiple language and cultural awareness
  • digital competence, including the ability to effectively access and analyze information
