ÉCS - Concours d'art oratoire
During the month of February and March, all Grade 5 and 7 French Immersion students at École Charleswood School had the opportunity to participate in the 40th annual Concours d’art oratoire, a French public speaking event organized by Canadian Parents for French. Each student had the opportunity to create a speech and present it in front of their class. On March 22, selected students from each class, and some Grade 8 students who chose to create and deliver speeches on their own, presented in front of a larger group at the École Charleswood Concours d’art oratoire.
« J’étais nerveuse de présenter de tellement de personnes, mais je suis content que je l’ai fait. C’était une bonne expérience et j’espère que je peux le faire encore l’année prochaine. » said Grade 5 student Sara Ruales Flores.
Staff judges were given the difficult task of selecting a smaller group of students who would present at the divisional Pembina Trails Concours d’art oratoire event at École Viscount Alexander on Wednesday April 9.
According to event organizer and Grade 5 Teacher Eric Paas, « La qualité des discours était tellement impressionnante. C’était un plaisir de voir les élèves fiers de présenter en français devant une auditoire. »
Congratulations to the following students who represented École Charleswood at the divisional Pembina Trails Concours d’art oratoire event: Ilana Thiessen, Eloise Chipman, Avie Taylor, Sofia Fruck, Rayden Mitchell, Ella Abraham-Ajayi, Ethan Wall, Anna Kyriakopoulos, Valentina Mercier, Charlotte Farkas, Olivia Souque, Adaeze Izuakor and Emmanuelle Anzhelika Loshakova.
Additional congratulations to Ella Abraham-Ajayi and Ethan Wall, whose presentation on Mental Health was awarded first place in the duo category at the divisional event. They will be representing Pembina Trails School Division at the provincial Concours d’art oratoire on May 3 at the Université de Saint-Boniface.
» says Ella.
Thank you to all students and staff who participated in the Concours d’art oratoire event this year, and for celebrating the French language and the gift of bilingualism at École Charleswood School.
