Library Learning Commons
Our goal at Prairie Sunrise Library is to foster life-long readers and learners. We are a student-centered learning commons, a central hub, which aims to provide a blending of literacy and technology within a welcoming, playful, and enriching space. We encourage inquiry-based learning and strive to instill in our students the skills necessary to safely and efficiently navigate the ever-growing, information-rich world in which we live.
Our library collection is a wide and varied selection of quality reading materials, available in a variety of formats. This ensures that every student is able to find a book that suits his/her interests. Students have a book exchange opportunity once per 6 day cycle.
Our high-tech and low-tech Makerspace areas are an extension of our learning commons. Students engage in coding, green screen technology, and many other computer applications and technologies to deepen and demonstrate their learning. Students can also be found building, creating with Lego, doing puzzles, participating in art and science design challenges, as well as a wealth of other student-directed activities.
Prairie Sunrise Reading Club
We believe that books should be in kids' hands. Therefore, we provide all students the opportunity to take up to ten books home over summer holidays and extended breaks. The students receive a Prairie Sunrise Reading Club bag to store the books in for safekeeping.
