Join the Royal School Parent Connection (RSPC)

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller

Did you know every parent and guardian at Royal School is an automatic voting member of the Royal School Parent Connection? That’s right! Your opinion matters and your vote at our monthly meeting counts without having to volunteer any hours. Keep reading to learn all the ways you can get involved today!

Five ways to get involved from small to large:

  1. Attend monthly meetings - 3rd Wednesday of the month, 6-7:30 pm, Library

Each Wednesday of the month, principal Tanis Theissen provides parents with an update from the school and the division from 6-6:30 p.m. Following this the Royal School Parent Connection team meets to discuss and vote on how money for the parent connection is raised and spent, guidelines on how we operate and events that are taking place. All parents are welcome to attend, have their voice be heard and vote on matters at hand. We hope to see you there!

  1. Volunteer at events/Fun Lunches

Volunteer 30-90 minutes of your time at various events throughout the year. Email royalschoolparentconnect@gmail.com to put your name forward and our organizers will be in touch with further details.

  1. Join an event organizing committee

Calling all party planners! Committees exist for our signature events like the Back to School Bash, Dance and Year-end Carnival. Email royalschoolparentconnect@gmail.com to get involved. It is a great way to network with other parents, make friends and have fun!

  1. Be a Grade Representative - 1 year term

We are looking for one parent per grade to commit to attending each monthly meeting and represent the voice of their grade by voting on all RSPC matters. This is an excellent way to understand the inner workings of RSPC without committing a huge amount of time. We also look to grade representatives to volunteer at events.

  1. Be elected to the RSPC Executive Team - 2 year term

Elections take place at the September meeting, but vacant positions can be filled anytime throughout the school year. Simply follow these steps to become elected:

  1. Understand how the RSPC operates by reading our Constitution
  2. Familiarize yourself with the Executive Team volunteer descriptions
  3. Email royalschoolparentconnect@gmail.com and ask to be voted into a vacant position at the next monthly meeting
  4. At the meeting put your name forward to fill a position and be voted in. We do not use a nomination process.

Fun Lunches = Fundraising

Skip making lunch and order a fun lunch from some of our kid’s favourite restaurants! This is the #1 way you can financially support improvements and maintenance of our playground. Fun lunches do not happen without volunteers. If you can lend 1 hour over lunch please email us at royalschoolparentconnnect@gmail.com !

Fun lunches happen several times a year. Here’s how they work:

1. Look for form sent home with your child

2. Place your order online by following the link on the form

3. E-transfer payment to royalschoolparentconnect@gmail.com with the name of your child in the comments or return form with cash to your child’s teacher
