Parent Council

At Ecole Van Walleghem School, we are very fortunate to have a Parent Council that works diligently to enrich our children's school experiences.

Meet Your 2024-25 Parent Council Executive:

Education Chair: Vacant

Current 2024-25 Parent Council Activities include: 

  • Fundraising Campaigns throughout the year to support school based needs.
  • Education Events for parents for topics of interest, including internet safety & information sessions for families new to the school.
  • School Community events, including Teacher Appreciation Week. 
  • Preordered Fun Lunches to provide a healthy lunch option to kids while also giving parents a lunch-making break!

All parents/guardians of students attending Ecole Van Walleghem School are automatically members of the Parent Council.  You are invited to participate in or get involved in any way you feel fits with your family life - all are welcome!  Come for one meeting to check us out, or join the executive to help us make positive changes in the school. 

Did you know that last year the Parent Council donated over $4,000 to support our school? This included new student welcome packages, books for classrooms, and iPads. 

Additionally, we gave $100 to each classroom for new books, contributed $500 to the Grade 8 farewell event, and donated $500 towards the school’s new buddy bench, among many other contributions.

While the fundraising chair position is still vacant, we are actively looking to fill it so we can continue supporting the school financially. If you’d be interested in stepping into this role or even just helping with one fundraiser, we would love to hear from you. For instance, our Fun Lunches have been a great success because someone took on that project.

Your involvement can help us continue making a positive impact!

Parent Council meets monthly throughout the school year except for the months of December, June, July and August. Our meetings are posted on the school’s online calendar, and normally occur on the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings take place in the school library and begin at 7:00 p.m. and should conclude by 8:30 p.m. All parents/guardians of students attending VW are voting members of the Parent Council and are invited to attend and participate at the Council meetings.
