Who We Are

Welcome! Bienvenue to the École South Pointe School community. Opening a brand new school in 2017 was a rare opportunity to very intentionally create a learning culture that is shared and shaped from “the ground up” by everyone - students, staff and parents - and so it was with a sense of adventure and possibility that we began our first year together. Our start-up was unique with students and staff spread among six different schools, however, unique, creative, and able to solve challenges are concepts that we expect will describe our students and staff.

At South Pointe, we welcome students from all starting points into meaningful and authentic learning that supports the highest level of intellectual, social and emotional growth, individually and collectively. Our goal is to become a place of personal and intellectual discovery, and to inspire in our students and staff a spirit of wonder and curiosity about learning that stays with them for life. We want to open up the world for our students to give them a sense of purpose and direction, to find their strengths and build the skills needed to find fulfillment in their lives, to seek opportunities to help others and to ensure that they can and do make meaningful contributions to our world. We feel that our school logo of a compass is a beautiful representation of these goals.

We look forward to École South Pointe School being a gathering place in the community, where home and school work together to help children know themselves as learners and as individuals. This is a learning community where everyone is welcomed, respected and valued. Together we strive to build a warm, inclusive, caring school that sets high expectations for all who are a part of it. 

Our Logo

The symbol of South Pointe is a compass. It represents our story as we create something brand new and travel through uncharted waters together. The center of the compass represents the school as a gathering place, the heart of the South Pointe community, where we strive to give our students a sense of purpose and direction, and a solid foundation, personally and intellectually. The outer circle unites us with a sense of belonging in an inclusive, safe, child-centered learning environment, rich with endless possibilities. The points of the compass, leading in all directions, illustrate our desire to instill in every student a love of learning that will open up the world to them so that they will capably and confidently go wherever their dreams take them.

Our Symbol

From the very beginning we have used the imagery of sailing on uncharted waters to describe our collective journey of creating a learning community.  The symbol of École South Pointe School is a compass, representing discovery, exploration and guidance to those setting sail. Curiosity and questions fueled the journey of many schooners (inquiry). Success of the voyage depended on the crew working together towards a common goal (community) while valuing and utilizing the unique abilities of each crew member (inclusion). Come sail away with us!
